Since 2004, the lowland monitoring station Neuglobsow-Stechlinsee, part of the UBA air monitoring network, has been expanded into an ecosystem-based study site. Since 2023, the Thünen Institute of Forest Ecosystems is managing the site and has been conducting several sub-programmes, including soil chemistry, needle and leaf analyses, vegetation studies, microbial decomposition, and trace gas emissions there
