History

The intensive forest environmental monitoring (Level II) originates from forest damage research in the 1980s. The widespread forest damage at that time highlighted the need for reliable data on forests and environmental influences. This data provides answers to research questions such as the effects of drought, which have become increasingly relevant since then.
