Data on soil moisture

Up-to-date information on weather conditions and soil moisture are important for forestry. The data collected by the forest climate stations as part of the Level II programme provides important information that is published by the forest research insitutes of the federal states.

Interactive visualization

Interactive visualizations enable the illustration of results, the mapping of trends, and the comparison of different elements and tree species. For example, results on atmospheric nitrogen deposition or nutritional status can be displayed.

Method development

The Level II sites are also used to develop and test novel technologies and methods to better meet new requirements and answer further research questions.

Provision of data as part of international and national reporting

Since 2018, data on the effects of air pollution on the environment is collected as part of the European NEC Directive. A wide selection of data from the Level II sites is part of the data set.
