Air quality

Acidic or reactive harmful gases can directly damage sensitive plants and forest ecosystems when critical pollution thresholds are exceeded. The measurements of nitrogen oxides (NOx), ammonia (NH3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), or ozone (O3) as part of forest environmental monitoring allow for an estimation of the levels and temporal development of harmful pollutant loads in the forest. In addition to continuously recording measurement methods, so-called passive samplers are used, which record the immission in precipitation water as well as through dust deposits on adherent surfaces.
